Can you play FiveM or GTA RP on PS5 or Xbox? (2026)
No. FiveM, where almost all GTA roleplay happens, only runs on PC. Here's why, what GTA 6 changes (so far, nothing), and what you'd need to start.
Why console players can't join
FiveM is a free platform built only for the PC version of GTA V. It loads each server's own maps, cars, jobs and scripts. Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, says FiveM is developed exclusively for PC and there are no plans for console support.
That means a "GTA RP server for PS5" can't be a FiveM city.
Does GTA 6 change this?
Not as things stand. GTA VI launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as a single-player experience. Rockstar hasn't announced a roleplay mode, FiveM support or a PC version. See Can you roleplay in GTA 6?
What you need to play GTA RP
- A Windows PC that meets GTA V's requirements. See FiveM requirements.
- A legitimate PC copy of GTA V (for example Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Store). Your console copy doesn't carry over.
- The free FiveM client from fivem.net. Never pay anyone for "FiveM access".
- A headset with a microphone. Many cities use voice chat, so check your server's rules.
Can I use a controller?
GTA V on PC has plug-and-play controller support. Servers add their own menus and controls on top, so check your server's Discord for how it expects you to play.
