Can you roleplay in GTA 6? What's confirmed (2026)
Short answer: not in the way GTA RP works today, at least not at launch. Here's what Rockstar has actually announced, what it hasn't, and where you can play GTA roleplay tonight.
The facts, as of 17 October 2026
- GTA VI launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced $79.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK.
- Rockstar describes it as a single-player experience. No online mode has been confirmed for launch.

- No roleplay mode and no FiveM support have been announced for GTA VI by Rockstar or Cfx.re.
Why GTA RP needs more than the base game
GTA roleplay happens on community-run servers with their own maps, jobs, scripts and rules. Today those servers run on FiveM, a modding platform for the PC version of GTA V. Console versions can't load custom servers, so even when GTA VI's online side arrives, there's nothing announced that would let communities run their own cities on it.
So what are "GTA 6 RP servers"?
You'll see sites and Discords advertising GTA 6 RP servers. As nothing has been announced that would make them possible, treat them as GTA V servers with a GTA 6 label, waitlists, or unofficial projects. Check what game and platform a server actually runs before you pay for anything or hand over account details.
Is Rockstar still backing GTA V roleplay?
Yes, on the evidence so far. Rockstar has owned Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, since 2023. In September 2026 it announced an official partnership with nopixel, with a closed beta of "nopixel 5" opening to invited players through the Rockstar Games Launcher on 8 September. Rockstar has also said GTA Online will continue after GTA VI comes out. None of that tells us what GTA VI roleplay will look like, but it does show GTA V RP is being supported, not wound down.
Could GTA 6 get roleplay later?
Possibly, but nobody outside Rockstar knows. Any article giving a date or a "confirmed" RP mode is guessing unless it links to Rockstar or Cfx.re. We'll update this page when there's an official announcement.
